The Tulsa Drillers moved back into first place thanks to a 6-0 shutout of NW Arkansas Monday night.
Edwar Cabrera and Josh Sullivan were strong on the mound for Tulsa allowing only two hits on the night. Cabrera finished with seven innings under his belt striking out seven in his sixth win of the season.
The Drillers started with a bang in the bottom of the first. Josh Rutledge connected on a ground ball to left for a double, then Angelys Nina doubled to left as well scoring Rutledge. One batter later, Nolan Arenado reached on a fielding error that also scored Nina to give Tulsa a 2-0 early advantage.
In the fourth, Corey Dickerson tacked one on for the home team with his first home run of the season to right field. Then with two outs, Lars Davis doubled to score Keil Roling which allowed Davis to make it to third. Michael Mitchell stepped to the plate and singled to right scoring Davis making it 5-0 Tulsa.
Cabrera had a perfect game until the fifth when he allowed a leadoff walk.
In the fifth, Arenado started things off with a walk and he advanced to second on a catcher interference call. Rolling drew a walk and then Kent Matthes singled to center to score Arenado from third taking a 6-0 lead.
Five different Drillers had an RBI on the night and Matthes went 2-for-4 from the plate.
The Drillers will face NW Arkansas again on Tuesday for game three of the four game series at 7:05 p.m.
