Editor's note: Earlier versions of this story referred to the suspect as Orval Smith, but the Rogers County Jail lists his name as Orval Taylor, so we've changed the story accordingly.
Rogers County deputies arrested a man after a resident came home to find the man apparently trying to steal his motorcycle.
It happened Saturday afternoon near Inola.
The homeowner told deputies that when he came home he saw a man standing next to his Harley Davidson motorcycle, and the bike's cover had been removed. After an exchange of words, the man took off through some trees.
Deputies coming to investigate found a vehicle on the side of U.S. Highway 412 near the house. They say a man sitting in the driver seat, 49-year-old Orval Wayne Taylor, matched the suspect's description.
Taylor told deputies his car had run out of gas, but he said he knew nothing about a motorcycle or trespassing.
While checking out the car, deputies discovered several knives and a gun between the driver's seat and the center console.
The homeowner positively identified Taylor as the man who had been on his property.
The 49-year-old Taylor was arrested on complaints of carrying a concealed weapon, felony possession of a controlled substance, obstructing an officer and resisting execution of legal process.
