A soldier has returned home to be with his first born.
Michah and Sami Wise welcomed their baby girl into the world two months ago, but Michah missed the birth. Now, he's home for good.
"I'm getting anxious," Sami Wise said, minutes away from meeting the most important man in her life. "I haven't slept. I feel sick. I'm nervous. I'm really excited though."
Moments later, Sami's husband, Cpl Michah Wise of Vinita, touched down on Sooner soil.
Michah is an army medic and has been deployed for nearly a year to Kuwait. He left right after marrying Sami, then tried to make it home for Mila's birth, but missed it by three days.
"Hurtful, a little bit of heartbreak because I wasn't there for her and wasn't there to see her take her first breath," Michah said.
Michah did get to come home for a two-week leave--but how time flies.
"She's starting to kind of squeal and laugh and smile and he didn't get to see that," Sami said.
Sami admits she's felt like a single mom not having Michah near. Michah got frustrated not being able to hold her in his arms.
"Her smile, her laugh, just the sound of her voice," Michah said. "Everybody has their fights as a married couple, but I don't know I just love her."
Michah says he'd deploy again if his country needed him, but right now he just wants to get used to life as a family of three.
Michah says he wants to go back to school to become a physical therapist and Sami plans on finishing beauty school.
