Two Hispanic men were transported to a local hospital early Sunday after an attack that left one with a gunshot wound and the other pistol-whipped, Tulsa police said.
Just before 2 a.m., police were dispatched to the Bristol Park Apartments, 11000 E. 44th St. South, on a report of a shooting.
Police said a 21-year-old Hispanic man and a woman were sitting in a Scion hatchback, and a black man in dark clothing approached asking for a cigarette.
The victim said he had cigarettes in his car, which was parked three spaces down. As he went to get them, the suspect produced a gun and demanded money, police said.
The victim's 29-year-old brother, who was unarmed, confronted the suspect and was shot during a firing of 2-3 rounds, police said.
The suspect then pistol-whipped the 21-year-old man, took cash from the woman and fled to a waiting car.
The victims told police there were a total of five black men involved in the robbery, but only one actually approached them.
