A Sapulpa soldier has been honored for his sacrifice.

Sergeant Justin Cox received the Purple Heart Wednesday at a hospital in San Antonio.

He's recovering from an explosion in Afghanistan that left him with back injuries and vision loss.

That same explosion killed Ochelata Sergeant Chris Gailey, and Checotah graduate Sarina Butcher back in November.

Cox, who served with the Oklahoma National Guard's 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, is married to Sherri Cox and the couple have two boys, who are 8- and 3-years-old.
