A McAlester man has been charged with child abuse by injury after emergency room doctors determined his 3-month-old daughter had two broken legs.
According to court records, McAlester Police say Jimmy Bolt III, 28, declined to talk to officers about what had happened, but Bolt's wife said Jimmy had told her he was dressing the infant, when she fell to the floor.
A probable cause affidavit stated doctors at the McAlester hospital found two freshly broken femurs and two older broken ribs.
The police officer investigating the case also stated in the affidavit that through his training, he's learned "it is impossible for a child to fall from an approximately 3 foot tall desk and break two femurs."
The infant was taken by ambulance to a Tulsa hospital.
Bolt was arrested and taken to the Pittsburg County jail.
On Monday, the Pittsburg County DA filed the charge.
Bolt remains in jail on a $500,000 bond. His next court hearing is May 11, 2012.
