Former Tulsa Police Officer Released From Federal Prison

A retired Tulsa Police officer convicted and sentenced in a corruption investigation of the police department was released Tuesday morning after serving 4 months in a federal prison.

A U.S. Bureau of Prison official says JJ Gray was released from the U.S. Penitentiary in Pollock, Louisiana at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Gray was sentenced in December 2011 to four months in prison for his role in the scandal. He had pleaded guilty in June 2010 to stealing more than $1,000 during a sting and apologized at his sentencing to his family and the police department.

Gray had expected to get probation in exchange for his plea, but a federal judge said despite Gray's help with the prosecution's case, justice required prison time and sentenced him to four months in prison.
