A man lying in the middle of a McCurtain County highway was killed early Sunday morning.

Zachary Garren Smith, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene after he was hit by a car on U.S. Highway 259 about three miles south of Broken Bow.

Troopers say an Arkansas man was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier northbound in the outside lane of the highway when he struck Smith just after 3 a.m.

Neither the driver nor passenger of the car was injured, according to a report by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Smith, of Mena, Arkansas, was taken to a funeral home in Broken Bow.
