A North Carolina veteran is using YouTube to pressure the national media – specifically Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert – on behalf of the Strait family of Tulsa.

Nancy Strait, 85, and her 90-year-old husband, Bob, were beaten during a home invasion robbery in their north Tulsa home in March.  Nancy Strait was also sexually assaulted and died from her injuries.

In his six-minute YouTube Video, Nick Palmisciano says many in the veteran community feel that their issues are being ignored by the national media and suggests the Strait story is an example of that.

"There is nothing in this story that is incendiary," Palmisciano said. "There's nothing [the national media] can sell ads with."

Palmisciano mentions Bob Strait's service in World War II. Strait was a paratrooper who took part in the D-day invasion.

"What is important about this case," Palmisciano said in the video, "is that Bob Strait is an absolute hero of the United States of America."

He asks Comedy Central hosts Stephan Colbert and Jon Stewart to talk to the Strait family in hopes of giving the story national attention.

"I think you care," Palmisciano said of the Comedy Central hosts. "I think the American people care about our veterans. I think the American people absolutely care about Bob and Nancy Strait.

Police arrested Tyrone Woodfork, 19, who has been charged with murder for the beating death of Nancy Strait.  He was also charged with 1st degree burglary and two counts of robbery with a firearm.

Police say Woodfork may have acted alone in the home but others could've been involved afterward.

As of Thursday evening, Palmisciano's video had nearly 40,000 views.
