The Tulsa Drillers saw a four-game win streak snapped Wednesday 2-0 at the hands of the Arkansas Travelers in the third game of the team's eight-game home stand.
Eddie McKiernan (1-0) kept the Drillers' bats in check early in the game, giving up just two hits and striking out two, retiring seven consecutive batters in his five innings of service. Parker Frazier (1-2) received his second loss for the season, allowing two earned runs on four hits striking out four in seven innings of service.
The first earned run came in the top of the third, after Rian Kiniry drew a leadoff walk. The center fielder then took second base on a single and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt in consecutive at-bats, with just one out of the board.
Matt Long grounded out to first in the next at-bat, bringing Kiniry home from third to take a 1-0 lead.
That score held for the next four innings, but a leadoff home run by Roberto Lopez, his first of the year, gave the Travelers a 2-0 advantage.
The Drillers will try to close out the series with a win at 7:05 p.m. Thursday, before starting a four-game series against the Springfield Cardinals.
