Families And Officials Mark 17th Anniversary Of Oklahoma City Bombing

Thousands gathered at the Oklahoma City National Memorial Thursday to remember those killed in the Oklahoma City bombing of the Murrah Federal building 17 years ago.

The blast, which took the face of the building off, killed 168 people.

A remembrance ceremony was held at the Oklahoma City National Memorial. It lasted about an hour and included a moment of silence at 9:02 a.m. to remember the violence that happened there and the lives that were lost.

Family members and rescue workers read aloud the names of everyone killed in the bombing.

Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin and Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett also attended this year's ceremony at the museum.

Timothy McVeigh was convicted on federal murder charges for the deadly bombing and was executed in 2001. The bombing was the deadliest terrorist attack on U.S. soil before the 9/11 attacks.
