A Gore man wrecked his pickup on a railroad track then was struck by a Union Pacific train early Monday morning. He was pronounced dead at the scene from massive injuries.
Troopers say Steven Ray Lafferty, 38, was driving at unsafe speeds when his 1997 GMC pickup ran off the side of northbound State Highway 10 near Braggs in Muskogee County.
The truck overturned one time, coming to rest on railroad tracks, according to a report by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Lafferty, who was not wearing a seat belt, was partially ejected out the passenger window.
Troopers say Lafferty wrecked sometime between 8 p.m. Sunday and 3 a.m. Monday when a Union Pacific training pulling 78 cars hit the pickup truck.
Lafferty's condition at the time of the wreck is listed as unknown.
