The Oklahoma National Guard Office of Public Affairs announced Wednesday afternoon that about 45 soldiers of the 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (IBCT) will return to Oklahoma after serving the past nine months in Afghanistan.

The soldiers are expected to arrive at the Will Rogers Air National Guard (ANG) Base hanger in Oklahoma City at 10 a.m. on Thursday. Will Rogers ANG Base is located at SW 54th Street just west of Will Rogers World Airport.

The media is invited to attend the event and join dozens of family members and friends who will welcome home the returning troops. The event is also open to the general public.

Nearly 2,200 Oklahoma Army National guardsmen from the 45th deployed to Afghanistan last June, while another 800 were sent to Kuwait. The entire brigade is expected to be back in Oklahoma in the next few weeks.
