Daylight Saving Time, for most people, means more daylight in the evening to get chores done.
For a Broken Arrow family, the switch to Daylight Saving Time, or back to Standard Time, means time to get out the step-ladder and the batteries.
Because, as News On 6 reporter Rick Wells found out, they've got lots of clocks.
There's a bowl of batteries on the kitchen counter.
Craig Fox buys batteries in bulk, to power all of his clocks.
Rick Wells: "How many you got?"
Craig Fox: "Somewhere between 123 and 130. Every time I count, I come up with a different number. If you guy's wanna count, go right ahead. I'm counting not just the wall clocks, but the mantel clocks -- basically every clock in the room."
Bet you didn't count this one. When I walked in I had two questions about all the clocks. How many and...
Rick Wells: "...I mean why?"
Craig Fox: "Well, I'm not really sure why...."
Fox said his youngest child always seemed to question bedtime. Now anywhere he points, there's a clock. That's kind of how it started.
The time change must be a monster.
Craig Fox: "The first year we had this clock collection, I would start over on this wall. When I got halfway down the wall, I realized I was putting the same time on them. My clocks were 10 or 15 minutes past."
So now there's an official time.
He has a satellite clock it sets itself. Most of them just tick, but 130 ticking clocks can make a lot of noise when all the ticking gets synchronized.
Craig Fox: "You can actually hear... chunk....chunk...chunk. It lasts about 6 seconds, then they all go their separate ways."
Most of them he gets at flea markets or garage sales -- and get this -- he's not done yet.
Craig Fox:"We've got lots of room for clocks."
Need batteries?
Craig Fox: "Just grab you a handful, OK?"
