A 14-year-old Pryor boy driving a Chevy Blazer wrecked the vehicle then ran from the scene overnight Sunday. He left an injured passenger who had been ejected from the SUV, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Troopers say the teen was driving on Kenwood Road near County Road 447 in Mayes County just after midnight. The Blazer left the roadway to the right, traveling about 103 feet before hitting a guardrail. The front seat passenger, another 14-year-old boy, was ejected from the SUV, landing about 116 feet away from the guardrail.
The driver stopped but then left the scene, driving two miles further west where the Blazer broke down. The teenage driver then fled the scene, according to an OHP collision report.
The Pryor teen that was ejected from the Blazer was taken to a Tulsa hospital in stable condition with head, arm and internal injuries.
A 13-year-old boy was sitting in the back seat but was wearing a seat belt. He refused treatment at the scene and was released to his parents.
The driver's condition at the time of the wreck is listed as unknown. The wreck's cause is listed as "rain or wet roadway."
Troopers know the name of the young driver, but the report did not state whether charges would be filed.
