The Tulsa Golden Hurricane women's basketball team avoided a three-game losing streak Thursday by knocking off the Tulane Green Wave 72-59, led by four players scoring in double-figures.
Junior guard Taleya Mayberry finished tied with a game-high 17 points, while dishing out five assists, grabbing two rebounds and two steals. Freshman forward Mariah Turner played big minutes coming off of the bench, scoring 16 points and grabbing six boards in her 28 minutes. Tiffani Cousinard and Chanice Scott both contributed 11 points in the win.
The contest was close for the majority of the game, and the Green Wave cut the deficit to four points with just 10 minutes remaining on the clock. However, that's when the Golden Hurricane poured the offense on.
The Golden Hurricane snapped off a 16-5 run, including six from Cousinard, to take a 60-45 advantage with just 5:26 left to play. From there on, the Golden Hurricane matched the Green Wave's offensive production and closed out the win.
Olivia Grayson led the charge for Tulane, finishing tied for a game-high 17 points, shooting 7-of-11 on the night. However, she was the only Green Wave player to score in double-figures on the outing.
Tulsa will be back in action at 2 p.m. Sunday against the Memphis Tigers on the road.
