A judge has ordered a mental evaluation for a 22-year-old Cushing man accused of stomping a woman to death while wearing steel-toed boots.

An attorney for Benjamin Andrew Littlesun says her client does not know the difference between right and wrong and that he doesn't understand the charges against him. The Stillwater NewsPress reports the evaluation must be submitted to the court by March 1.

Littlesun is charged in the December death of 45-year-old Ava King, who was found partially nude and beaten in an alley in Cushing. She later died at a hospital.

According to an affidavit, Littlesun allegedly told police that he had beaten a woman he met at a bar the night before. He has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder.
