In his State of the Union address, President Obama pledged to make oil and gas companies disclose the chemicals they use in hydraulic fracturing -or fracking.
Friday, Oklahoma's regulating agency, the Corporation Commission, proposed a new set of rules that would do the same thing.
If the new rules are adopted, all Oklahoma oil and gas producers will have to disclose the chemicals used during the fracking process in a public database called Frack Focus.
As part of our Oklahoma Impact Team, we plan to spend the next year investigating hydraulic fracturing in our state, and will bring you the results of our first investigation later this month.
