DALLAS – The SMU Mustangs came into Tulsa earlier in the season and handed the Golden Hurricane one of their only two conference losses.
So it was only fitting that Tulsa return the favor on the road.
TU went into Dallas on Saturday and avenged its loss with a hard-fought 66-60 victory against the Mustangs.
Jordan Clarkson had a huge night with 22 points, six rebounds, six assists and four blocks to lead the Golden Hurricane.
Scottie Haralson was his usual self, adding 17 points and hitting 5-of-9 from 3-point range.
They helped lead an incredibly efficient offensive attack, as the Golden Hurricane took just 44 shots in the game but made 23 (52.3 percent).
TU also went to work on the boards with a 33-19 advantage over Southern Methodist.
Tulsa held a 35-30 lead at halftime but gave it up about three minutes into the second half. It didn't take long for TU to recover, however, as it went on a quick 8-0 to regain a 45-40 lead and never trailed again.
The Golden Hurricane got 22 points from the bench and 24 total points in the paint against the Mustangs.
The win boosted Tulsa to 13-9 overall and 6-2 in conference play while SMU fell to 10-11 (2-5).
TU will have nearly a week off before hitting the court again on Saturday, Feb. 4 as it hosts Marshall at 7 p.m.
