Windy and Colder Tonight

I'm running a little behind my inter-office schedule this morning and will keep the morning blog-discussion on the short side today. 

We expect a mild day with highs in the lower 60s but increasing winds will occur this afternoon ahead of cold front.  The front will pass the Tulsa metro between 4pm and 6pm and winds will back from the northwest and increase speeds in the 20 to 30 mph range for a few hours tonight.  The moisture content in the atmosphere will be very low, but the latest guidance indicates a slight chance of a few showers across northern Ok and southern Kansas.  I'll keep a slight mention in the forecast for this area for a few hours this afternoon as the mid-level moisture and lift coincide across the region.

Wind speeds this evening may be in the 20 to 30 mph range for an hour or two before wind speeds decrease around the 9pm to 10pm hour.  The clouds will clear out for the overnight hours and temperatures will drop into the lower and mid 20s for northern OK and southern Kansas.

Saturday and Sunday appear pleasant with Saturday highs in the upper 40s and Sundays readings moving into the mid or upper 50s.  A weak boundary will slide across the northern part of the state Sunday bringing a wind shift to northern Ok and southern Kansas for a few hours, but no impact on the temperatures will occur. 

Early next week the pattern of warm and windy conditions will remain with highs moving back into the mid-60s and possibly near 70 by Tuesday.  Another boundary will be nearing the region Tuesday and Wednesday and a few showers or storms may be possible across far eastern Ok during this period.  I have kept the slight pop on the map for this time period, but most of the area will remain dry.
