We got an email from two men who billed themselves as the Cherokee Magicians. The email said they used live wasps and scorpions.
It may be the wrong season for live wasps and scorpions, but News On 6 headed to Cherokee County anyway because we love a good magic act.
Bobby and Jeramy Neugin live in the Lost City area north of Hulbert. They say they are trying to discover and revive some of the ancient Cherokee magic, as well as ticks and illusions from all over the world.
"We're going to show you some of our entertainment magic and some that has some of Native American culture tied to it," Jeramy said.
They've loved magic as long as they can remember, but they've been at this professionally for about three years.
"One of the magicians we'd learned from gave us the best advice, he said don't do the magic everyone is doing, do what impresses you," Jeramy said.
They bend spoons and they do card tricks, but they try to put their own little twist into every sleight of hand and illusion.
In their research they found some version of the cup and ball trick in every culture as far back as the pyramids, they found a variation of it in the Cherokee culture too. The Cherokees used two cup instead of three.
They say they have hundreds of tricks and illusions. They do shows for children and have what they call a darker themed show for adults.
