TULSA, Oklahoma -- A wrong-way driver suspected of DUI is in critical condition after a head-on collision early Saturday morning that sent three others to the hospital.
It happened in the eastbound lanes of I-44 at Sheridan just after 1 a.m.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troopers say 19-year-old Taylor Bennett was westbound in the eastbound lanes in a 2005 Dodge Neon when she struck another car head-on.
The driver and the two passengers in the second car, a 2012 Nissan Altima, were transported to a Tulsa hospital in stable condition. One of the passengers had to be extricated from the Altima using the Jaws of Life.
Bennett was transported to a Tulsa hospital in critical condition. Troopers believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
A truck driver told troopers Bennett was going the wrong way on I-44 from 129th East Avenue, four miles from where the crash occurred.
Bennett was not wearing a seatbelt, according to an accident report.
