Morning lows in the 20s will move into the upper 40s today with a slight south breeze.
A weak upper level wave is noted near the Big Bend area of West Texas and is moving east-northeast. A few mid and high level clouds will be likely today across the state ahead of this weak feature. Sunshine should be the dominate sky cover but a few clouds will also be likely with highs in the upper 40s across Eastern OK with south winds around 5 to 12 mph.
The main polar vortex located over Hudson Bay Canada will shove another front across the central and southern plains today and tomorrow with the boundary entering northern Ok around 4AM Friday. This front will arrive with no precipitation and the air mass should be a modified Canadian mix bringing highs in the lower 40s Friday afternoon.
The weekend appears quiet if not cool with morning lows in the 20s and afternoon highs in the upper 40s with mostly sunny sky.
The next system will be dropping into the area Tuesday or Wednesday but a large spread in the guidance prevents us from too specific at this point with the system.
The GFS would take a more southern route with the EURO slower and more northward with the system moving across the central plains Wednesday. This system will be very dynamic and could provide a severe weather threat for the southern plains. At this point, the data would keep any severe threat to our south in Texas using the GFS with the threat spreading more northward using the EURO. Stay tuned.
