STILLWATER, Oklahoma – It was a tough way for one of the state's greatest running backs in years to go out.
But it was also a sign that one team is still the dominant force everyone viewed it as.
In an unforgettable game on Friday night in Stillwater, Cascia Hall made a goal line stand to top Heritage Hall 14-7 and advance to the 3A Championship game.
Heritage Hall had four shots from inside the 10, including a 4th-and-goal from the 1-yard line with 41 seconds to play.
After a timeout, a rushing attempt from Barry Sanders, Jr. was stuffed and Cascia Hall took over on downs to run out the clock.
The win could certainly be considered an upset, as Heritage Hall won it all last year and was riding a 27-game winning streak.
But the Commandos are likely in the middle of an even more impressive stretch, with only one loss in the past four years. And Friday's game showed that Cascia Hall could once again be the team to beat in 3A.
Heritage Hall, one of the highest scoring teams in the state, had a season-low point total of 29 against Davis coming into the game. The Chargers finished out the season at 13-1.
Hunter Hart accounted for both of the Commandos' touchdowns in the game as they moved to 14-0.
Cascia Hall advances to play a fellow unbeaten team – Anadarko – on Friday night at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater.
