Starting Black Friday, November 25, 2011, Tulsa Police officers and police reserves will be providing an extra layer of protection for Tulsa shoppers.

Each year, Tulsa Police provide additional patrols as part of its Safe Shopper Program.

This year, officers will focus on patrolling several major shopping centers, like 41st and Yale, 21st and Yale and Tulsa Hills.

Police officers will also be highly visible near Utica Square and Woodland Hills shopping areas.

Those officers and reserves will focus on patrolling the shopping areas, monitoring parking lots and assisting on-duty officers with larceny calls in the shopping centers.

Tulsa Police say officers will be on the lookout for anything suspicious, as well as handicap and fire lane violators.

Last year, officers working the Safe Shopper Program in the Riverside Division area handled a large number of calls for service in the shopping areas and assisted on many traffic collisions on the nearby streets and parking lots.
