Metro Christian got a jump start on Veterans Day. The school held its 11th annual program called "God Bless America's Heroes" on Wednesday.

Elementary students saluted America's veterans with songs, essays and poetry. Then it was the veterans turn to get on stage, including a man who watched the raising of the American flag on the sands of Iwo Jima.

"We like to be able to tell what we experienced, and know that these children appreciate it, and will be guided by it in the future," said Lloyd Dinsmore, WWII Veteran.

The ceremony finished as everyone headed outside to watch two, World War II-era; planes fly over the football field.
