OWASSO, Oklahoma -- An Owasso police detective was honored Tuesday for going above and beyond the call of duty.
Detective Jason Woodruff was off duty and getting gas at a Kum and Go last year, when he stopped a robbery that involved a shootout.

As it turns out, the suspect was wanted by US Marshals for violating probation. Detective Woodruff was presented the Congressional Badge of Bravery for his heroics in the line of duty on that day.
"He shows great character in his investigations, and this is not the only act that he has show bravery in, but it certainly is a highlight," said Owasso Police Chief Dan Yancey.
The badge is given to officers who answered the call of duty not matter what the cost. Woodruff is a seven year veteran with the Owasso Police Department.
