BROKEN ARROW, Oklahoma -- An Oklahoma National Guard soldier home on two weeks leave from Afghanistan surprised his two daughters at Broken Arrow Public Schools Monday morning.
Staff Sgt. Alexander Moore surprised his eldest step-daughter, Hope in her high school class Monday morning.
Moore, who works in the motor pool, is home on leave, but will return in two weeks to finish out five more months in Afghanistan.
"I was just going to have them come up the principal's office but she wanted to do something more fun," Moore said.
His wife Michele had a better idea.
"We've seen this on television and we thought it would be nice to do something cool like that," Michele said.
So before Monday's reunion his wife set it up to surprise one step-daughter in chorus at the high school. And then to surprise another step-daughter at the middle school.
Hannah had a feeling the mystery guest was for her. And though the family was able to talk through email - the daughters say that's nothing compared to this.
"I loved it, I missed him so much," Hannah said.
Staff Sergeant Moore has to go back to Afghanistan in two weeks, but for Michele, who planned all this in secret, it's mission accomplished.
"It was neat to be able to pull it off," Michele said.
It's the third deployment for the Moore family, but the first surprise homecoming. They're hoping after a few more months overseas, next time, he'll be home for good.
