ORU Athletics Schedules News Conference For 'Major Announcement'

TULSA, Oklahoma – Oral Roberts University athletics has scheduled a news conference for Tuesday afternoon to ‘make a major university announcement in regards to athletics.'

The university announced the news conference Monday and it is believed the announcement pertains to a conference move from the Summit League Conference to the Southland Conference.

ORU Athletic Director Mike Carter confirmed the News On6 that Oral Roberts has been in discussions with the Southland Conference, but gave no timeline or indication that the move was a done deal.

Currently the Southland Conference consists of 12 teams from the states of Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas. The move to the new conference would mean a closer proximity for the Golden Eagle athletic teams as well as increased competition, especially in baseball and basketball.
