BROKEN ARROW, Oklahoma -- Artists in Broken Arrow are getting a chance to add their brush strokes to the city's newest canvas. Ten talented people are collaborating to help design Broken Arrow's new arts and entertainment district.
The group was selected from a number of artists. They'll be painting eight concrete planters and four benches that line the road to City Hall.
The City Council unanimously approved the contest and along with beautifying Broken Arrow, it also gives the artists a unique opportunity to put their talents on display.
"Mostly my stuff is just hanging on the wall, so this is something totally different.... and it will be a totally different aspect and be great to put in my portfolio for an experience," said artist Kristen Abbott.
The competition will be held every two years to maintain the artwork, and offer new artists a chance to showcase their work.
