Pryor Man Rescued From Fiery Wreck On Will Rogers Turnpike

PRYOR, Oklahoma -- A Pryor man was critically injured in a fiery wreck involving a 14-foot box trailer, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. The wreck happened Saturday afternoon on the Will Rogers Turnpike in Ottawa County.

Troopers credit passing motorists for saving the man's life.

Kenneth East, 43, was driving a Ford pickup pulling a U-Haul trailer westbound on the Will Rogers Turnpike when the truck ran off the right side of the road for an unknown reason. The vehicle struck the end of a guard rail and rolled a quarter time, coming to rest on the passenger side.

The truck caught fire, and East was rescued by passing motorists. He was taken by medical helicopter to a Tulsa hospital where he was admitted in critical condition with head and trunk injuries.

East was in apparently normal condition at the time of the wreck. He was not wearing a safety belt. Cause of the collision is listed as unknown.
