TULSA, Oklahoma -- An Oklahoma National Guard soldier was remembered Friday afternoon in Tulsa.
Specialist Christopher Horton was killed in Afghanistan when his unit was attacked with small arms fire.
A memorial service for him will was held at the First United Methodist Church at 1115 South Boulder.
The 26-year-old from Collinsville joined the Oklahoma National Guard in 2008. He was one of three Oklahoma National Guard soldiers killed September 9, 2011 in Paktia Province.
Also killed in the attack were 26-year-old Sgt. Bret Isenhower of Seminole and 20-year-old Pfc. Tony Potter of Okmulgee.
Horton was awarded the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart and an Army Service Ribbon.
Horton will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. at a future date.
