Rain was Nice, but not a Drought Breaker.

Now that the rain has gone, pattern should be rather stable going into next week.

Although it was not a drought breaker, the rainfall from the overnight and morning hours was certainly welcome. The map on the right courtesy of the OK Mesonet shows the 24 hour totals from across the state. Our corner of the state fared quite well, but unfortunately that was not the case statewide; particularly for the more southern and SW counties.

Now that the skies have cleared and we have some residual low level moisture, look for fog to be forming during the late night and early morning hours. It should not last long and we should have lots of sunshine for the balance of Friday. The sunny skies and a light S wind will allow temperatures to quickly rebound to near the 80 degree mark by late afternoon.

Another wind shift is expected to arrive Fri night, but it will be dry and there should be no problems with the Friday night football games. Light northerly winds and partly cloudy skies on Saturday will give way to somewhat stronger northerly winds and more cloudiness on Sunday. Could even see a few sprinkles or a light shower or two for the extreme eastern counties before the weekend is over. This will be due to a system aloft that is wobbling around the lower Great Lakes but could drift far enough this way to wring out a few light rain showers for E OK and NW Ark.

After that, looks like a quiet week ahead. No major changes are currently anticipated and temperatures should be gradually moderating as the week wears on.

As always, stay tuned and check back for updates.
