OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company is ending its grace period for delinquent customers the day after Labor Day.

OG&E promised not to disconnect residential service in the month of August to help those struggling to pay their electric bills.

It is now September, so the utility says come Tuesday, September 6, 2011, customers who are delinquent with their utility bill will be getting a cut-off notice.

OG&E's spokesperson Brian Alford said the moratorium on cutoffs helped several thousand people from getting their service cut off.

In July and August OG&E offered installment plans to 44,000 customers. Another 15,000 took advantage of the average monthly billing option.

If you haven't paid your OG&E bill you are urged to give the utility a call at 800-272-9741 from 8a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday – Friday.

OG&E has 786,000 electric customers in Oklahoma and western Arkansas.
