TULSA, Oklahoma -- It took Tulsa Police officers about 90 minutes to talk a man off an I-44 bridge overpass early Tuesday morning.

Police say the unidentified man, who appeared to be suicidal, was standing on the edge of the 41st Street bridge over the interstate highway.

Because of the situation, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol shut down westbound traffic on I-44.

Tulsa Police also thanked three semi truck drivers who parked their rigs under the bridge during the incident, in order to prevent the man from jumping very far.

The man was taken into custody and returned to a treatment center, where he had walked away from late Monday night.
