Wagoner County Accident Claims One Life

WAGONER, Oklahoma – One man was killed and one woman was injured in one-car accident south of Wagoner Saturday afternoon, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

Thirty-five-year-old Joshua Carney from Muskogee was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Darcus Shanta Anderson, 31, also from Muskogee was transported by air ambulance to St. Francis hospital with head injuries.

The OHP said Carney's vehicle was northbound on US 69 five miles south of Wagoner when his car departed the roadway to the left, crossed the center median and southbound lanes, went into a broadslide down an embankment and struck a tree.

Carney's body will be examined by the medical examiner.
