TULSA, Oklahoma – The Lincoln Christian Bulldogs have been one of the most successful teams in Class 2A over the last few years, but still are making a significant change to their team this season.
Head coach Darren Melton decided to change the Bulldogs' defensive scheme from a 4-3 to a 3-4, despite the fact that they held opponents to six points or less six times last season.
"It just fits our personnel a little bit better," Melton said. "We've really enjoyed and liked what we've seen so far, and we're really excited about it."
While the defensive undergoes its transformation, Lincoln Christian's offense will remain almost identical. It still will center on running back Zack Simmons, who rushed for 1,600 yards last season. With expectations high for him this season, he insisted he does not feel any added pressure.
"Pressure? I know for me, personally, I just don't really think about it," Simmons said. "I just keep doing what I do every day."
