LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas -- In the third shutout of the series, Tulsa managed to top the Arkansas Travelers 2-0 Sunday to avoid losing back-to-back games at the end of a road trip.
Tulsa (51-55) went with right-hander Josh Sullivan with the start, who pitched five scoreless innings and did not allow an earned run. Stephen Dodson (8-1) came in to relieve at the start of the sixth and picked up the win, giving up just one hit and striking out four in his three innings of service.
The only runs of the game came in the top of the eighth, after a throwing error by Arkansas (52-51) third baseman Gabe Jocobo kept the inning alive.
Tim Wheeler followed with a walk, and a double steal with Erik Wetzel put runners on second and third with two outs on the board. In the next at-bat, Ben Paulsen doubled to right field to bring them both home and give the Drillers' a 2-0 advantage.
Those unearned errors were enough to earn Chris Scholl (1-3) a loss for Arkansas, receiving credit for two unearned runs in one inning pitched.
The Drillers will go for the second consecutive win at 7:10 p.m. Monday to cap off the seven-game road trip.
