EDMOND, Okla.—Edmond Santa Fe’s Josh Richardson inked his National Letter of Intent Wednesday to play basketball at the University of Tennessee.

In front of family, friends, teammates and classmates, Richardson signed on the dotted line with the Vols after receiving offers from numerous schools.

Oklahoma was one of those schools that showed interest, as Richardson worked out for the Sooners on April 8.

At that time, Richardson said TCU, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Penn State and Missouri State were all schools that were seemingly interested in his abilities, but at the end of the day, he decided on Tennessee.

The six-foot-five-inch shooting guard was a big part of the Wolves’ run in 2011, averaging 16.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 2.8 steals and three blocks per game in his senior season. He was also unanimously ranked in the top 150 players nationally.

This year Richardson was also a member of the Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State Team.

Cuonzo Martin, the former head coach at Missouri State is now the new head coach at Tennessee and the offer he extended to Richardson when he was at Missouri State stood, even after the move.

Richardson joins guards Chris Jones and Wes Washpun in the incoming freshman class for the Volunteers.
