MIDWEST CITY, Oklahoma -- In front of nearly 20 scouts, Deer Creek’s Michael Fulmer put on a show, recording 16 strikeouts in the Antlers’ 10-2 victory over fourth-ranked Carl Albert.
Fulmer, who is committed to Arkansas, pitched a complete game, giving up just four hits and one earned run.
Third-ranked Deer Creek was able to get the bats going early, leading 5-0 after two innings.
Heading into the bottom of the fourth, Deer Creek led 6-1 when Carl Albert looked like they might get back in it. The Titans got a leadoff double by AJ Wilson, then Fulmer got into a bit of a jam.
The Titans loaded the bases with no outs, after Fulmer gave up a walk and hit a batter. Fulmer struck out two, then gave up a walk to make it 6-2. Fulmer was then able to get out of the inning, thanks to another strikeout.
Five different Antlers batters hit five homeruns in the victory.
Fulmer was impressive at the dish as well, going 2-4 with a double and a two-run homerun.
Deer Creek, who has not lost to an opponent from Oklahoma, improves to 11-4 on the season, and will host Chickasha Tuesday.
Carl Albert falls to 8-4 on the season and will travel to Western Heights on Tuesday.
