SAPULPA, Oklahoma – Benefiting from a late foul for the second straight game, the Edison Eagles’ miraculous run through the playoffs continued. Edison upset No. 2 Ardmore 44-43 at the Chieftain Center in Sapulpa Thursday night.

After taking the 43-42 lead with less than three seconds left, the Ardmore Tigers fouled Brian Speaks on the ensuing full-court Hail Mary pass by the Eagles. Speaks then calmly stepped to the line and sunk both free throws to give Edison a 44-43 advantage.

After the free throws, the Tigers had 1.8 seconds to get a shot off but fumbled the ball away. The ending to this game draws eerie similarities to Sunday’s area tournament, where the Eagles knocked off East Central with late free throws.

With this win, the Eagles advance to the 5A state semifinals. They will face El Reno Friday at noon at the Mabee Center.
