SAPULPA, Oklahoma – After overcoming a rough start to take a big lead, the No. 7 Central Braves were upset by the El Reno Indians Thursday 62-60.
El Reno came out of the gates hot, with Devante Moore picking up the first eight points for the Indians. Central struggled to find a rhythm in first quarter, but relied on a 28-point second quarter to take the lead. By halftime, leading 38-26, the Braves looked to have the game in hand.
Things started slipping in the third quarter, as Central led by just seven going into the final frame. In the fourth quarter, the Braves led by five with less than 40 seconds left, only to see Devante Moore and the Indians overcome the deficit to advance.
With the win, the Indians are moving on to the 5A state semifinals. They will play Edison Friday at noon at ORU’s Mabee Center.
