TULSA, Oklahoma – When the regional brackets came out, both Bishop Kelley and McAlester saw they were in the same portion of the bracket as top-ranked Booker T. Washington. However, neither team could think about the Hornets on Friday night as they met in a loser-out game.
The Comets and Buffaloes went back and forth for the first 3 quarters. But in the 4th, Bishop Kelley started to pull away. They opened the final quarter on a 14-3 run, and that ended up being the difference in the game as the Comets won 59-50.
Alex Maguire led all scorers with 21 points, while Daniel Hinson chipped in 12 in the win. On the other side, Ben Collier scored a team-high 17 for McAlester, but it just wasn’t enough.
The loss ends McAlester’s season, while Bishop Kelley advances to play top-ranked Booker T. Washington on Saturday night.
