SHAWNEE, Oklahoma – Choctaw’s Deonta Samilton was too much to contain for the Shawnee Wolves.
The senior guard put up 27 points against Shawnee, leading all scorers and helping his Yellowjackets to a 56-41 win to open the 2011 Shawnee Shootout.
Samilton’s drives were not the only strength Choctaw utilized. He dished out passes and created constant ball movement for his teammates. Darrellyn Jordan finished with nine points, while Keipher Hotella contributed eight.
The Wolfpack struggled to keep up late in the game, but couldn’t overcome the ever-present 10-point deficit they had created. Dejoun Sanders led Shawnee with 14 points, teammate Terrance McDonald finished with 11 and Dillion Mooreland chipped in eight in the Pack’s loss.
