Wilson's 20 Points Help the Cards Beat Webster

TULSA, Oklahoma – The fifth-ranked team in 5A got a little bit of an early scare from the Webster Warriors at home Thursday night, but put the fans at ease with a huge second quarter. East Central outscored Webster 19-5 in the second frame and cruised to its sixth win of the season.

Drew Wilson led the way for the Cardinals. The high-flyer threw down four monster slams in the first half to help build a 17 point halftime advantage. Wilson scored a game-high 20 points.

Webster got a spark from Kortney Smith in the two quarters. The guard split defenders in the lane and scored more than half of the team’s 11 first half points. Webster turned the ball over too many times and East Central converted those into fast break points.

The Cardinals’ only losses this season came to the state’s top team, Booker T. Washington, and to Talihina. They are averaging 64 points per game this season.

Smith led the Warriors with 17 points.

Next up for the Cardinals is a road game against McLain Friday night. Webster will visit McLain next Tuesday.
