TULSA, Oklahoma - The Claremore Zebras came into S.E. Williams Stadium with a daunting task: take down a Booker T. Washington squad that not only went 9-1 in the regular season, but recorded five shutouts. But, in the playoffs, crazy things can happen, and the Hornets were only holding a 17-0 lead over the Zebras going into halftime.
After stopping the Zebras on the opening drive of the third quarter, the Hornets started their first drive with a short run, and then back-to-back illegal procedure penalties.
You can call it “waking up” or “the light switch turning on”, but from that point on, it was complete domination by Booker T.
Running back Dalshawn McFayden would finish the first drive of the third with a short rushing touchdown to make it 24-0. After William Whayne forced a fumble on the ensuing Claremore drive, the Hornets started their second drive of the second half at the Zebra ten-yard line. Quarterback Dominique Sells ended that drive by hitting Dalshawn McFayden with the 9-yard TD pass. The extra point was blocked, but Booker T. increased its lead to 30-0.
The final in this one: Booker T. Washington wins 43-0. The Hornets register their sixth shutout of the season, and will face Deer Creek on Nov. 19th at 7:30 pm. Claremore finishes the season at 4-7.
