SAND SPRINGS, Oklahoma – The loss of star players did not seem to affect Central and Sand Springs in their scrimmage at Charles Page High School on Friday night.
Central, which lost do-everything quarterback Demarco Cobbs to graduation, maneuvered its way down the field with ease. Big plays were a big part of the Braves offense last year and they were against the Sandites Friday. On one drive, quarterback Milton Harper found Caleb Daniels, who weaved his way through the Sand Springs defense for a 30-yard touchdown.
Despite the loss of quarterback Johnny Deaton, the Sandites also showed signs of success on offense. Derek Hager highlighted one drive by taking a screen pass five yards for a score. Sand Springs reached the endzone on another drive as well.
