LAWTON, Oklahoma -- Every wide receiver is fast. But the receivers that make big waves are the ones that combine strength and speed.
Tyrequek Zimmerman is one of those receivers.
“He embarrasses our offensive linemen,” said Lawton head coach Randy Breeze. “He’s 100 pounds heavier on squat than any other player on our football team.”
Clocked at 4.4 second 40-yard dash consistently and squatting more than 500 pounds, Zimmerman’s talents have given him the opportunity to take his game to the next level and compete in the Pac-10. The senior receiver has already committed to play for the Oregon State Beavers and is the top receiver in their 2011 recruiting class.
“The pro-style offense they run at Oregon State is perfect for Zimmerman,” said Breeze. “They can nickel-and-dime you with the short stuff underneath and hit that big, strong kid, but that strong kid still has 4.4 speed to go vertical.”
But Zimmerman is only concerned with one number.
“I don’t really think about [statistics]. I just love winning,” said Zimmerman. “I don’t like to lose so I’ll do anything to win.”
