TULSA, Oklahoma – The Deer Creek seniors missed the school’s graduation ceremonies Saturday morning but still got their fill of pomp and circumstance. The Antlers downed the Booker T. Washington Hornets 11-0 to force a do-or-die rematch Saturday afternoon.
The game was a career day for Cale Coshow. The senior threw a five inning no-hitter and equaled his older brother’s school record for career home runs with his 3-run blast in the 4th inning.
“Now I just tied him,” Coshow smiled after the game.
Zac and Cale have each hit eight homeruns in an Antlers uniform.
Coshow was dominant on the mound against the Hornets. He only allowed two batters to reach base over his five innings. One Hornet made it to first on an error and Coshow beaned a hitter late.
“My team really had my back,” said Coshow. “It makes it easier to perform knowing I’ve got eight other guys behind me.”
The same two teams will face off again shortly after 5 p.m. The winner will advance to Monday’s 5A state title game at ONEOK Field. First pitch for that game is scheduled for 4 p.m.
