The Class A Finals are set, with Fletcher topping defending champion Soper and Okarche blowing past Sentinel to advance to the Gold Ball game.
Okarche 9, Sentinel 3
For the second game in a row the Okarche Warriors scored nine runs, en route to a big win over Sentinel.
Ryan Raupe led the Warriors 12-hit day, going 2-4, hitting one double, scoring two runs, while driving in two runs.
If the Warriors’ offense continues to shine, they could stake claim to the first baseball Gold Ball in school history.
Fletcher 5, Soper 2
Both teams traded leads, with Soper taking the first lead of the game in the top of the second. Fletcher responded with a three-run third inning, a score that lasted until the sixth.
Soper's Zane Nelms hit a line drive up the middle to score Colton Scott and pull the Red Bears to within one run. Zane Gentry’s groundout brought Dusty Linn home to tie the game.
Fletcher took the lead in the bottom of the sixth on a Billy Love sacrifice fly that brought Taylor Smith home to retake the lead.
Fletcher will try to claim its first Gold Ball since 2001 Saturday at Dolese Park.
